Honeymoon and More Checks!

Some of you may or may not know that Alex is planning our honeymoon on his own. He wants to make it a suprise, which is incredibly romantic. I have welcomed this idea, as of course I love suprises. I also have absolutely no time on my hands to worry about planning a honeymoon while I’m planning the wedding. Some of you may say “Kelly, can’t he plan it, but you still know where you are going? That way you know you will like it?” The answer is a resounding “no” Were I to know where we were going I would be conplusively researching everything to do with the location with no end.  This is of course  quite frankly, crazy. Therefore, I welcome the suprise!

I say this…however there are times now and then that I want to know! I worry, “will he think of ….?” These thoughts of course I force down to non existence because in the end, it doesnt really matter. I have confidence that even if everything isnt planned perfectly, we will survive and have an amazing honeymoon simply because it is our honeymoon! How can you not have fun on it!?

In other wedding news, checks have been made across the board.

  • Alex has picked the tuxes for the guys and some of them have done their deposits.
  • My lovely ladies have all ordered their dresses. (YAY!)
  • I have finally booked a couple of wedding blocks at hotels. (information available under the “wedding details” tab)
  • Alex and I have finished registering! (information can be found under the “vendors” tab)
  • I FINALLY ordered my wedding invitations!!
  • I have updated this website!!

To Do’s for the next month:

  • Get Alex’s wedding ring. (I will be wearing my engagement ring as my wedding ring.)
  • Make sure I have a florist and pick flowers!
  • Schedule fittings, find accessories, and everything thing else dress related.
  • Go shopping with Alex’s mom for her dress. (maybe?)

I’m sure I’m forgetting things…I will remember in time.

Back to Business

While the hustle and bustle of the Christmas preparations seem to be winding down as our Christmas season begins, I have realized I still have much planning ahead!

With the new year brings a new list of “to do’s” for me and Alex. (I had been taking a big of a break, hehe).  We are thrilled over to see the list shrinking every month. This month will be mostly focused on helping the bridesmaid’s pick their dresses and Alex deciding on a tux for the groomsmen. They will all look smashing in anything they wear, however we have insisted that they wear something.

My mother has already found her dress for the wedding , however Alex’s mother has not. I am looking forward to being able to go shopping with her for this and having some girl time.

We are under 5 months away from the big day and I hope you can all join in our excitement. We will be posting more information for you all as it becomes available. Check back for details such as hotel accommodations and Registry info.

Holidays

Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was wonderful to have all the family together! My sister, Kara and her husband, Andy came up for the first time in about 10 years!

After Thanksgiving all of the girls (minus Jess who had to work unforutnatly) got together to go shopping for dresses! It was exciting to see them all in the glamorous gowns and I think they enjoyed getting to see me in my dress as well. Even little Emery came and everyone thoroughly enjoyed getting to take their turn at holding our little angel.

We were able to decide on a designer and color, however their exact dress selections are still up in the air for awhile.

We are going with long, chiffon dresses in royal blue by Mori Lee. It was just the bright and summery blue we were looking for, a lot of the other blues from other designers had alittle too much purple in them.

This past weekend I was able to take an amazing trip up to NYC to visit my friends, Caitlin and Jackie. It was a much needed vacation for me and it really was wonderful. I was able to enjoy some wonderful music (Mew concert Friday, Mary Mcbride on saturday), great shopping, and most importantly I got to have some great girl time with two of my favorite people!! It really was a vacation to remember and remember it I will for a lifetime.

Christmas is just around the corner and we are, of course, busily preparing our souls and bodies as well as our pocket books! I am looking forward to putting up our decorations around the house this weekend and listening to all the christmas music on the radio. Of course, I havent been able to resisit watching Elf (only the best christmas movie, if not most cheerful movie of all time) a few times and have forced all present to join in the merrimaking. I hope you all have a chance to take time out to prepare for and enjoy this wonderful time of year.

New Addition!

My sister Laura has given birth to a beautiful little girl, Emery June! She is so precious and we are so blessed to have her.

Welcome to our little family, Emery. You will find that your aunts and your mommy are all a bit off, but they love you and eachother very much. We cannot wait to show you this wonderful, beautiful world!

When the news of her arrival came upon my ears, I felt overwhelmed. Every child is so special to our family. As my dad likes to say; “this” is everything. “This” (a child, family) is your legacy.

I had better stop this post before I get too mushy and my sisters yell at me for being a sap.

pictures to come!

CHECK!

OK, so I can finally make some checks to my list!

In the past week I have successfully designed and sent my save the dates to the printer! Now I am awaiting their arrival and you will all soon see them in the mail!

I have met with and decided on my DJ!

My mom and I met with our amazing caterer! She set our hearts at ease about our plan and is drawing up our contract.

At the caterer I also looked at a lot of Cakes from Sugarbakers since we are getting the cake through the caterer. AND yesterday I decided on one! it is beautifully simple and elegant, yet a little bit different.

O I almost forgot one of the biggest and most important checks!! THE CHURCH! we finally got confirmation from the church that we have it for the date/time of our wedding! This process was a labor of love for Alex and I as there are not that many Orthodox churches in the area and it seemed that there was an obstacle for us at every turn. We decided on a beautiful Church that is alittle further from our reception site then we initially wanted, but it will be worth the drive! St Matthews Orthodox Church in Columbia Md will be the home of our wedding ceremony!

To do’s for the next couple weeks include :

Looking at Invitations

Mailing Save the Dates

Looking into Florists and Floral designs for our bouquets

Pricing out the bar

OK I think that’s enough!

On top of all this, I am feeling a bit under the weather today. Say a prayer that it’s not the swine!

tip: check out our “the beginning” page, I posted a new picture!”

Engagement Pictures

Our experience with our engagement pictures couldn’t have been better. Our photographers were creative and had every pose well thought out.
Alex and I were looking for a photographer with something special. We found that amazing artistic eye in Erin and Corey Snapp.
Our shoot was exciting and fun, but also challenging. Alex and I played the roles of Miss Vogue and Mr GQ quite well I think. Below you can see some of our favorites.
this was our favorite shot to take.
This was our favorite shot to take, for obvious reasons.

Progress

I have made alittle progress on the site.
Alex is hard at work writing our proposal story, so hopefully that will be up soon.

Our wonderful photographers Erin and Corey of Snapp Shot Photography took our engagement pictures a few weeks ago (one of which is the header for this page!). I will post a few of them up here for anyone that hasnt seen them to check out!

I am hard at work trying to make the save the dates with one of the pictures we took. I will hopefully be able to enlist the help of my lovely sister, Jessica, as she has just gotten married (YAY!) and has experience with this type of thing.

Wish me luck!
